STMicroelectronics Introduces Innovative Low Dropout Regulators with Small Package and High Performance

STMicroelectronics' STLQ020 low-dropout (LDO) regulators alleviate the trade-off between quiescent current, output power, dynamic response and package size, giving designers greater freedom of design. FP40R12KT3G

The STLQ020, which combines small size, high performance, and high energy efficiency, is ideal for battery-powered consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets, smart watches, audio or media devices, and wearable devices. In addition, STLQ020 helps to extend the battery life of IoT endpoint devices such as smart meters and wireless sensors, medical devices such as wear monitoring devices, and industrial applications such as industrial automation or sensor networks.

The quiescent current (Iq) of the STLQ020 is only 300nA, and the maximum output current is 200mA. The parameters such as voltage regulation, PSRR, and transient response are excellent. The package uses a compact flip-chip of 0.8mm x 0.8mm.

The unmatched combination of features of the STLQ020 results from its dedicated low-power design and adaptive biasing circuit, which guarantees fast response and stable output with high PSRR. In addition, the pressure drops to 160mV (typical) at maximum load, which can extend equipment run time during battery discharge. In addition, the STLQ020 provides a logic-controlled shutdown mode that consumes only 5nA of power. The input voltage range of the STLQ020 is 2.0V-5.5V, and the power supply can use the appropriate battery voltage (VBAT) or logic voltage rail directly. The output voltage can be set between 0.8V and 4.5V, divided into fixed and adjustable output voltages. The output voltage of the fixed output voltage product changes by 50 mV per shift.

STLQ020 will be put into production from now on, using 2mm x 2mm DFN6, 0.8mm x 0.8mm flip chip 4, 2.1mm x 2.0mm SOT323-5L three kinds of packages.

The high-performance quad LDO regulator evaluation board (STEVAL-LDO001V1) features one STLQ020 and three other low dropout (LDO) voltage regulators.
